Optimization and Over optimization

The Dos and Donts of SEO

The whole world wants to be on the top of the search page. The fight to get there is making the people involved play unfair and tip the balance for them. This is, needless to say, normally frowned upon. But it is possible to adhere to the rules and still be toeing the line when it comes to over-optimization.

Here are three things you should avoid to not be at the risk of over optimization:

Keyword stuffing: Just because you can have 12 keywords in a line, does not mean you have to. The thing with keywords is that although it is very important to have enough keywords to throw attention on the page and bring it to the forefront. But to have a line that has keyword and links in such density that the reader cannot escape the ordeal, will make them not even want to read it. Be careful when you decide to increase the keyword density. Don’t swap keywords for meaningful sentences.

Hidden text: Having text on a page that is the same colour as the background of the page and where the text is too small for human eye to read, is usually considered illegal in the world of SEO. While it is true that you need to have people coming and visiting your page, it is necessary to stick to guidelines and rules.

Content: Try as much as possible to have content that is original and unique. This is helpful because unique content shows up with better value and higher on a search rather than duplicate content.

True, a lot of the time, toeing the line is acceptable, just remember the fact the line exists for a reason and should not be ignored or dismissed lightly.
